Stipe Miocic wants to fight Daniel Cormier in 2020

In a chat with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, ‘The Silencer’ cited pandemic restrictions as hurdles to a speedy climax.

“I have no cage, no training partners, nothing, I need a full camp. I need to be back in the swing of things before I even get into camp because that’s how you get injured. I’m so used to training all the time and now I can’t do anything. It’s crazy. I have no training. There’s no place for me to train.”

“There’s no way I can fight him in August. I have no idea what he’s talking about. The state of Ohio is shut down. What do you want me to do?”

Cormier is eager for the fight to happen sooner. He even hinted at the possibility of his final match being held behind closed doors. However, based on ‘The Silencer’s comments, it doesn’t seem as though that will be the case.

As per the ESPN report, he said he could be ready for a fall fight if gyms reopen.

“Listen, late fall, whatever is fine. As long as everything works out and we can train and everything is open.”

‘The Silencer’, however, did say that he recovered from the retina injury he sustained against ‘DC’ which allayed fears that he is not yet cleared.

Fans and the other Heavyweights will hope that the Ohio State firefighter heads to the gym and gets in shape as soon as possible. This is because they want to see this fight happen quickly and ensure that the division is not left in limbo.
