When Henry Cejudo defeated “Mighty Mouse” for the UFC flyweight championship, many questioned the division’s future. However, the segment still exists today and Cejudo explained why.
Henry Cejudo claimed the flyweight belt back in 2018 via a split decision. Although it was a big moment for the new champion, many believed that the division would not survive without the former champion. However, Cejudo proved everyone wrong when he defended his title against arguably the best bantamweight on the planet, TJ Dillashaw.
Was the flyweight division saved? Well, Cejudo moved up a weight class to capture the bantamweight belt. Because of inactivity, he had to give up his flyweight title. This month, the UFC tried to crown a new champion but failed miserably.

Although Cejudo receives a ton of criticism for the characters he plays, it seems like he does not plan to stop it soon. It might get him a few haters, but those haters will pay to watch him fight. On the other hand, people who understand the sport are not bothered by his act.
Do you believe that Henry Cejudo did the flyweight division any favor by adopting the cringe persona? Or is he just rationalizing?
