UFC President Dana White remembers the days when his promotion was a fledgling company aiming to cater to a mainstream audience. These were the days when cities and arenas shunned him, but Donald Trump rescued the UFC by permitting them to host shows in his casinos.

The duo shares a long friendship and Dana White gave the US President a telling endorsement at the 2020 Republican National Convention. He praised Trump for how he has handled the pandemic and gave special praise to him for his drive in getting sports back to screens.

Dana White said, “The President went above and beyond for all sports leagues involved. Figure out a way to overcome the challenges of staging live sport events in a pandemic. And you know what? We did it!”

The UFC resumed on May 9 with UFC 249 PPV and have organized weekly events for the last four months. The NASCAR followed suit and the NBA, MLS, and MLB resumed their leagues. Soon, the NFL will start its regular-season schedule. 

Dana White says the lessons learned by sports resumptions will help restore normalcy everywhere

The risks taken by the UFC, and in extension the other leagues, provided a blueprint for the economy to resume. Dana White said, “The UFC was the first to do it and we are continuing to do it. Now, other sports have joined us, and some of the lessons learned are being used to open other types of businesses and schools.”

Despite the strides they have taken, White knows that there is a long way to go. This because the end goal for normalcy is the return of fans would to the arenas. He believes that Trump’s work ethic will be crucial in achieving this and restoring normalcy in the country.

The UFC President said, “Make no mistake, we have a long way to go. That is why we need a leader with President Trump’s unique attributes at this critical time. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. He is one of the most loyal human beings I have ever met. The man has unstoppable energy, no one is going to outwork this guy.”

The duo’s friendship has spanned nearly two decades, and the bond remains stronger than ever.
