Henry Cejudo is quite serious about fighting UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski. This is the only fight for which he would step into the Octagon once more after retiring on May 9. Whilst, responding to a tweet from new Bantamweight champion Petr Yan, ‘The Messenger’ pleaded with UFC President Dana White to give him the match against ‘The Great.’

The Australian has claimed that fighting Henry Cejudo will not do him any favors as he is chasing GOAT status. He responded to the tweet and reversed ‘Triple C’s signature taunt saying, Only one man bending the knee right now!!” He used the hashtag “keep begging”

In response, ‘The Messenger’ wrote, “Actually the (UFC) fans are begging me to Save the 145lb Division from Alex the Great Decision Makernovski”

Henry Cejudo aims to become a champ-champ-champ

In his tweet, ‘Triple C’ indicated that he is aiming for the pinnacle in yet another division. ‘The Great’ has fallen victim to a lot of taunts after the polarizing decision at UFC 251. Many observers assumed that ‘Blessed’ had done enough to reclaim the divisional title. Cejudo himself believes Holloway won the fight and continues to mock ‘The Great’ on those lines.

At present, Cejudo is one of 7 fighters to claim championships in 2 different divisions. He is in elite company with the likes of Randy Couture, BJ Penn, Conor McGregor, Georges St-Pierre, Daniel Cormier, and Amanda Nunes

Volkanovski admitted his preference to face number one contenders. However, he said that money will play a huge role if the UFC decides to make him fight the currently unranked Cejudo. A fight against ‘Triple C’ would certainly be a big draw and has the potential to garner a plethora of PPV buys.

What is your take on Henry Cejudo’s pursuit of a Featherweight title shot? Do you see the UFC making this match anytime soon? Or will it only be ranked contenders earning the shot for the 145 lbs divisional strap?
