Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani after his most recent victory against Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Ngannou had a lot of thoughts to share. As the GOAT list conversation is making rounds in the MMA community, Helwani asked Francis his thoughts about a certain contender: Jon Jones.

Ngannou said, “So far I will not argue that sports-wise he has proved it all. He has been the head of this division for almost a decade. So there is no argument about that.”

His response may come as a surprise to many, considering the recent fight talks against Jones.

Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou super fight?

Following his 00:20 Knockout at UFC 249, Jon Jones took aim at Ngannou and the MMA world was on pins and needles waiting to see if the fight would be booked.

It seemed that the fight may take place at some point, but that seems distant now. Reports are out that Jones wants more money than the UFC will offer. For now, it appears this potential super fight is on hold.

Even with Jones’s public and aggressive callout of Ngannou in the media, it did not seem to impact his decision on who the MMA GOAT truly is. It appears Jones’s longevity as the light heavyweight champion was the deciding factor for Ngannou.

Given Ngannou’s concise view of the sport is remarkable, considering he is only six years into his MMA career. Francis Ngannou, who is on a four-fight win streak, is primed for a second title shot. With four 1st round finishes, Ngannou holds all the cards.

Kindly note, It is highly ill-advised to blink when ‘The Predator’ steps into the Octagon.
