Dustin Poirier is on a tear in the UFC lightweight division and has thwarted all comers barring Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘The Diamond’ had ‘The Eagle‘ in a hold at UFC 242 but could not lock it in.
Now, on the day of his WEC and by an extension UFC debut, ‘The Diamond’ dropped a hint that he is ready to return. He tweeted, “Who do yall want to see me fight next?”

A fight against Tony Ferguson is what the fans are calling out for, given the duo’s position in the lightweight rankings.
Should this materialize, it will be an interesting fresh match for both the company and the viewers. Also, it can be safely said that Poirier’s prediction/warning will come true. ‘The Diamond’ posted a wide-eyed emoji when a fan shared a split-screen image of the duo.

In yet another hint of a return, the former UFC interim lightweight champion retweeted a fan’s post of himself. Here the caption said “coming soon…”

Poirier ensured that he doesn’t go on a multiple fight losing skid when he beat Dan Hooker. Also, he knows he must keep winning if he wants to earn big fights that push him to be a better version of himself and leave a legacy in the company.

‘The Diamond‘ got off to a bad start and lost to Danny Castillo. However, he won his next five matches, including a submission win over future UFC champion Max Holloway.
This is a career progress he has constantly maintained in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions. However, he even claimed readiness for a welterweight fight against Nate Diaz.

This is a fight that was to be ‘The Stockton Slugger’s comeback in 2018. However, it fell through with both still maintaining an interest in facing each other.
