In a recent interview with MMA Junkie’s John Morgan, the Russian fighter’s frontman confirmed that a fight in August is a possibility. Abdelaziz talks about how the UFC has a card planned in Abu Dhabi. And they would like Khabib to feature on it.
“I think because Ramadan is about to start next week. I think he can be back in August. He told me that the UFC has scheduled San Franciso fight, I think it was August 1st. He can fight there. There’s no problem. It doesn’t have to be in September.”- Ali Abdelaziz

At first, Khabib was looking to take on Ferguson in New York. However, the Coronavirus pandemic made it impossible for the highly anticipated fight to take place.
Almost every country in the world has imposed heavy restrictions on travel in and out of the country. These restrictions are a deterrent against the spread of the virus. Due to which travelling to the venue of the fight became impossible for Khabib.
After the news of Khabib removing himself from the event broke, the UFC went on to replace the Dagestani fighter with Justin Gaethje.

“June, July, two months, then August I can fight. I hear the UFC wants to make a show in San Francisco [in August]. If not, let’s fight in Abu Dhabi middle of September. Or fight now, before Ramadan. April 18, we’re supposed to fight, but where? This is the question.”- Khabib Nurmagomedov to ESPN
This would be the fifth time this fight has fallen through. Fights between two of the biggest names in the lightweight division date back to 2015. However, the fight never seems to materialize. Recurring problems like health issues and injuries have been plaguing this matchup for half a decade now.
Many feel this fight is cursed. What do you think about it?
