“This Belt Ain’t For Me It’s For Hawaii”- Max Holloway

As Max Holloway gears up to face Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski in a week, he shared some interesting insights about his opponent’s game.

Holloway believes that Volkanovski’s impeccable point-play helped him win their previous fight. In fact, he even said that Alexander can represent Australia in the Olympics for point Karate. In an interview with khon2sports, he said,

“The biggest takeaway that I learned from that fight is that if Australia ever was looking for someone to point karate for the Olympics? Since it got pushed back? We got a guy after July 11.”

The two earlier met in an absolute dogfight at UFC 245. While both of them threw everything they had at each other, Alexander won via unanimous decision. He outstruck Holloway to win the decision. Thus, ‘Blessed’ lost his Featherweight title.

After the fight, Alexander himself said he wanted to bag a more convincing victory over Holloway. He said that to gain the respect he deserves, he needs to make a point by finishing Holloway.

Well, it is true that the last fight didn’t really bring out a clear victor. The way that the fight progressed and ended made a statement of there being no clear victor. Thus, Yas Islands may finally bring an end to the debate regarding the best active Featherweight.

Holloway has always been great in his outreach to his people. The Hawaiian said,

“This belt ain’t for me. It’s for Hawaii, it’s for my family and my friends. And everybody on my team that makes sacrifices. I got five belts at home in the closet. The belt doesn’t make me. Every fight I’m 0-0. I know how much it means to a lot of people. How much it means to people of Hawaii and those who are at someplace and they’re going through something.”

Holloway also launched a program to raise money for battling the COVID-19, wherein he will entertain Hawaiian winners with a free training session, some food, and the ability to bring along friends.

Thus, it is clear that Max comes with the aim to make it big for his people. But will he be able to take down Volkanovski? What do you think?
