When Jones is not fighting, he is probably having a field day on Twitter. Jones often interacts with his fans and even comments on other fighters and their fights.

Recently, “Bones” published a screenshot of his conversation with Paulo Costa along with the caption, “Lol this dude is a b*tch, I was being sarcastic and he actually apologized.”

Here’s the conversation from the deleted tweet.

“Once you get 100,000 followers on Twitter I still start replying to you publicly. Why did you have to start with the insults man, the wasn’t very nice. You hurt my feelings. It’s not too late to apologize.”

Paulo Costa replied to Jones with an apology.

“Hello Jon, if you felt bad I’m sorry. Was not my intention, really. I wish all the best to you sincerely. This is a humor page too, don’t take things here too seriously. But if you want I can delete it without any problems. As I said it is not the same sense to offend.”

Jones received heavy criticism for mocking Costa. However, he explained his action to one of his fans in a follow-up tweet.

The history behind Jon Jones and Paulo Costa’s rivalry

On June 8, Costa targeted Jones in one of his tweets after the light heavyweight champion threatened retirement. In his post, “The Eraser” said, “Jon Bones and his Dog looking for cocaine.”

Costa then followed up with another tweet aimed at Israel Adesanya as well as Jones.

Costa is expected to face off against the middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. The Brazilian has a perfect 13-0 record with wins over former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and the never-aging, Yoel Romero. He also holds a victory over knockout artist Uriah Hall.

Adesanya, on the other hand, is also undefeated. The Kiwi defeated Romero in his last outing, and he can’t wait to fight Costa. Should Costa beat Adesanya, the possibilities for him are endless. Considering his huge size, a possible move to light heavyweight cannot be counted out.
