Jon Jones has officially vacated his light heavyweight title and is embarking on a journey to rule the heavyweight division. The fighter said he will take time to put on mass and feel comfortable in fighting at his new weight class. However, his latest tweet showed fans the exact weight he wants to fight at as a heavyweight.

Bones put out a series of tweets calling for a fight against the champion, Stipe Miocic. He wrote, “Stipe asked for a new challenge, why not fight the light heavyweight goat? Besides we’re way closer in size. What’s more exciting than that?”

Miocic weighed in for his UFC 252 fight at 233 pounds. Jones has a similar walk-around weight. After all, the former champion weighed in at 238 lb for his grappling match against Dan Henderson.

Besides that, the champion has defeated Francis Ngannou before and he wants to fight a new challenger as he inches closer to his forties. Jon Jones could serve as the ideal challenger.

‘Bones’ tweeted, “By the time he heals up my body weight should be right where it needs to be. This fight lines up perfectly”

However, the UFC President wants to book Francis Ngannou to fight for the belt next. Jones believes that it makes little sense.

Jon Jones may have to hope Stipe Miocic beats Francis Ngannou

Jones tweeted, “Stipe versus Francis is high risk low reward. Stipe versus myself actually makes a lot of sense for both of us. Now you actually have a super fight. Stipe loses the fight is gone”

The tweet makes one thing clear. ‘Bones’ values a fight against Stipe Miocic more than Francis Ngannou. This could be because he wants to beat the heavyweight G.O.A.T. to claim the championship.

He brands the Miocic-Ngannou fight as high risk, low reward. The term shows that Jones views the light heavyweight G.O.A.T. vs heavyweight G.O.A.T. as the bigger money-grabber for the UFC. By making Miocic defend against ‘The Predator,’ the promotion will honor the rankings but will be missing out on a massive super-fight.

The argument here is that he can fight Miocic even if the Ohio native doesn’t hold the belt. However, the belt will add to the grandeur of the occasion. If Jones wishes to fight only for the belt, he could face Ngannou.

This is the very fight that led to Jones’ highly publicized feud with the UFC over fighter pay debate. Ideally, for ‘Bones’ to get his desired fight, he will have to hope Miocic goes 2-0 against the top-ranked heavyweight.

Whether it is Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou, UFC fans will be thrilled to see Jon Jones take on either opponent. Who do you think it will be?
