Almost four years ago, UFC President Dana White attended the Republican National Convention to support his friend and the current President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. When it was his turn to speak, White stole the show with one of the most powerful speeches of his life.
White and Trump have been good friends for a long time. The duo has a shared interest in MMA. Back in the day, Trump even had a major stake in Affliction (MMA Promotion). Besides that, Donald Trump supported White when the UFC was illegal in most states.
Over the years, Trump attended multiple UFC events. Hence, it made sense for White to return the favor. In 2016, the UFC juggernaut spoke at the Republican National Conference. Looking back at the address, it is safe to say that the Republicans certainly did not regret sending the invitation.
White was so pumped up that he delivered one of the best speeches — or should I say promo? — of his career. For a second, it almost felt like White was promoting a Conor McGregor fight.
Here are a few words from Dana’s speech.
“I’m not a politician. I am a fight promoter. But I was blown away and honored to be invited here tonight. And I wanted to show up and tell you about my friend Donald Trump, the Donald Trump that I know.”
“Let me tell you three things I respect about this man. First, Donald has great business instincts. He supports businesses of all sizes. He’ll make it possible for them to grow, which is the backbone of a strong economy.
“Second, Donald is a hard worker. This guy is gonna get out there, he’s gonna roll up his sleeves, he will work with people. And he will put in the time to get things done. Third, for over fifteen years, Donald Trump has been a loyal and supportive friend…”
As per the latest reports, Dana White will be back at the 2020 Republican National Convention. He will join the likes of Ben Carson, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, Ivanka Trump, and Rudy Giuliani, among others.
