“U Boys Are Growing Up”-Nate Diaz Hits Out At UFC Roster

Nate Diaz took to Twitter and put the entire UFC roster on notice. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ put out his infamous one-liner which was subsequently deleted. This response is due to the recent uproar by fighters regarding pay.

Beginning with the speculated reasoning for Henry Cejudo’s retirement, fighter pay became a highly mentioned topic. In the span of a month, two more top draws in the sports have expressed their displeasure.

Jon Jones who is one of the highest-paid athletes in the UFC spoke out against Dana White. The spat regarding fighter pay became very public. In addition to that Jon Jones has left the door open to possibly vacating his championship. This back and forth between the UFC President and Jones has been extensively covered in the media.

Most recently Jorge Masvidal has come out and expressed his frustration toward the organization. In a series of Tweets, Masvidal demanded the UFC either increase his pay or release him from the company. It is unprecedented to see so many top drawing fighter’s venting out their frustration over a common issue.

Dana White has gone on record saying, “Anybody who doesn’t want to fight,doesn’t have to fight. “Including Masvidal and Jon Jones and all these other guys”. It’s clear that the UFC President isn’t budging on his stance any time soon.

Nate Diaz has long been advocating for fighters to demand higher pay and seek more lucrative offers. From very early on into his career Nate Diaz has been pushing the narrative to ‘make what you’re worth’

Diaz has been known to be notoriously difficult to deal with in the past per Dana White. White has long claimed that both Nick and Nate Diaz are virtually impossible to deal with.

In light of the recent events, it appears that Nate Diaz feels a certain sense of retribution over fighter pay. In his own right, he has gone onto becoming a huge draw within the promotion. This has possibly made him even harder to deal with if you are the UFC brass.

It remains to be seen whether the recent stir up will lead to the formation of a fighters union.
