UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has fired shots at ‘juice heads’ in the UFC. The USADA can’t conduct tests at the moment due to the pandemic, giving steroid users the perfect opportunity to start their cycles, as pointed out by Adesanya.

“Everybody who’s juicing right now get your s*** up cause right now no one’s testing. I don’t even know how that’s going to work. I don’t even know how cycles work Ariel. That’s how far removed from the game I am. I know if I was juice head right now, I’d ramp that s*** up and get on your cycles and off your cycles as soon as the lockdown ends. Everbody’s who’s juicing would be juicing to their gills right now” said Adesanya in an interview with Ariel Helwani
Steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs have been a subject of controversy in combat sports for ages. Top fighters such as Yoel Romero, Anderson Silva, and Alistair Overeem have all been caught in the past for using PED’S to gain a competitive edge over opponents. Despite, the USADA conducting several tests and formulating policies, it seems to be a problem that never goes away.

Disgraced UFC fighter TJ Dillashaw was stripped of his title for testing positive for EPO in 2019, and was banned for two years after his samples tested positive. However, with the USADA unable to conduct tests at the moment, we might witness more steroid-related issues in the coming months.
The benefit of ‘peds’ is that fighters can train longer, recover better and put on muscle mass during training camps. Moreover, as fighter’s age, TRT therapies can boost strength and extend their career’s even if they are past their best.
Despite stringent testing, there have been several instances where fighters have gotten away with using steroids. The culture behind combat sports has always been to fight fair and clean. However, this seems to be a message disgraceful ‘juice heads’ don’t seem to understand.
