Jessica Andrade has been in the UFC for quite a while. The UFC strawweight contender made her octagon debut in 2013. Unfortunately, she lost her first match in the company. Since then, Andrade has had a stable career. Over the years, she gained popularity for her brutal knockout power.

The Brazilian eventually fought for UFC gold. She defeated Rose Namajunas to win the belt at UFC 237. However, she lost it soon after to reigning champion, Weili Zhang.

At UFC 251, Andrade faced off against Namajunas in a rematch. Jessica looked strong early in the fight; she confused Rose with her constant head movement. However, Rose used her strong jab to counter her opponent. Unlike their first match, the second fight went to the judges’ scorecards. And Rose was awarded the victory.

Jessica Andrade is staying on Fight Island

Andrade, who is hungry to fight, did not leave Yas Island after her defeat. She told Dana White that she will continue her training. And fight on short notice, if the UFC needs a replacement fighter.

Seemingly happy about it, White said:

“She hit me up and said I’m already training again and ready to go. She’s a little beast. Am I concerned about — No! I’m not concerned about somebody… ‘We need her for backup.’ That’s just her mentality and that’s what a little bad*** she is. Yeah, she hit me up too and said, ‘I’m ready to fight again if you need me.’ “

Since her defeat, Andrade’s rank fell to #2. She will probably have to win a couple of fights before competing for the title again. If the UFC is unsuccessful in matching her up soon, she can rematch Joanna Jedrzejczyk next.
