Karl Roberson has struggled yet again with cutting weight. The Middleweight is matched up against Marvin Vettori for this weekend’s UFC event in Las Vegas. Vettori hit the scale first and weighed in at the non-title fight limit of 186 lbs. When Roberson walked in, he seemed very confident. However, the scale showed 190.5 lbs which was well over the limit.

The fight between Roberson and Vettori was originally scheduled for UFC Jacksonville last month. Even then the weight cutting demon-haunted Roberson. He suffered from minor seizures during the weight cut. Consequently, he had to be hospitalized. He was deemed ineligible to fight because of the medical issues. While the situation may seem not that bad from a distance, only Roberson knows what he went through.

After hitting the scale, he attempted to rehydrate his body. However, his body didn’t respond as per his expectations. Roberson even passed out. The road back to a UFC fight in a month has been treacherous for ‘Baby K’. He focused on shifting from a fat-heavy diet to a carbohydrate-rich diet. However, the changes don’t seem to work out the way they were expected to.

This time around Roberson and his camp played smart and refused to compromise with the Middleweight’s health. It seems like they gave up altogether on the weight cut once it didn’t go according to the plan.

Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori have a lot of bad blood between them

Even though the fight between Roberson and Vettori was scrapped off last month, the action continued in the hotel lobby. The two were involved in an altercation that was captured on camera. They had to be separated by UFC security. However, that couldn’t curtail the trash-talking between the two. Since then, they have been hurling verbal jabs at each other.

Roberson believes that the entire hotel incident was a setup by Vettori. He alleged that Vettori was still on steroids. Subsequently, the Italian couldn’t keep his emotions in check. Roberson had planned to stay calm against Vettori and not let his emotions have the better of him. It remains to be seen if he can keep up with his words after missing weight.

While there has been no official confirmation from the UFC, the fight still seems to be on. In all likelihood, Roberson will forfeit a portion of his purse to Vettori. The two even faced off following the weigh-ins. Unlike last month, the two were relatively quiet at the faceoff.
