Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been scheduled to fight each other five times. However, the fight between the two never came to fruition. With Khabib surprising the world with his retirement, the fight will probably go down as one of the biggest what-ifs in UFC history.

Following Khabib’s retirement, most of the other UFC stars were praising him for his unblemished career. However, ‘El Cucuy’ still didn’t give up hope of stepping inside the Octagon against the Russian champ.

There are a number of contenders up for the challenge of stepping up as the new champion. One has to keep in mind though, that Dana White is not yet ready to take the belt away from Khabib. However, even if the champ does end his retirement, there’s a high probability that he does so to fight Georges St-Pierre.

As per Khabib, Ferguson took a lot of damage against Gaethje for a 36-year-old. Therefore, the now-retired champ believes that Ferguson will not be the same when he returns to the Octagon.
