Khamzat Chimaev has put himself amongst the most-talked-about fighters within just three appearances in the UFC. He is so good that people are already calling him Khabib Nurmagomedov 2.0. However, the Swedish fighter does not enjoy living under the Dagestani juggernaut’s shadow.

Finishing all three of his opponents in just two months is not something everyone can do. However, Chimaev has done it comfortably. At UFC Fight Night 178, it was a matter of 17 seconds as ‘Borz’ knocked out ‘GM3’ Meerschaert in the first round.

Considering the similarities in their accent, looks, and dominance, a lot of fans have billed him as Khabib 2.0. However, Khamzat Chimaev is not happy with it, as he wants to establish his own identity.

He is not Khabib Nurmagomedov 2.0 – He is Khamzat Chimaev!

In the post-fight press conference of Fight Night 178, ‘Borz’ talked about a lot of things. One of them being his recent comparison with Khabib.

Chimaev is already aware of those comparisons and vows to establish his own name.

“Everybody [is saying you are] Khabib [Nurmagomedov], Khabib-number two something like that, but I am Khamzat,” said the Swedish sensation.

He further validated the claims by adding, “I can knock you out people, like submit the people, smash the people. Everything!”

It is no surprise that Chimaev has made some global fans with his activeness and sheer dominance. From shifting weight classes to being very active, ‘Borz’ deserves all the attention he is receiving. However, there’s still a long way for him to go.

The welterweight and middleweight rosters are two of the most stacked divisions in the UFC. That said, there are some legit killers and two great champions in Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya. Chimaev can reach the top-spot if he continues to do what he is doing.

Looking at his activeness, Chimaev will definitely fight again in 2020. He has absorbed just two strikes in the UFC. That’s less than his number of wins in the organization. Thus, the upcoming journey appears to be bright and lucrative for the young asset.
