Dana White and the history of the contender’s series
Dana White has long believed in fostering talent in order to truly grow the sport of MMA from its roots. His efforts with ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ eventually birthed the idea for a competition that would award UFC contracts. Chiefly, the winners of the show have received more mainstream visibility that other prospects on the roster.

The show was originally titled ‘Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders series’ and had the first event back in July 2017. Not to mention, the Apex facility in Las Vegas was erected for the sole purpose of hosting UFC centric events. From its inception, the show was a success as fans got an opportunity to see elite contenders first hand.
The show in question operates separately from the UFC brand and has it’s own licensing. This allowed for the creation of a brand new phenomenon off the back of a well-established global brand. The incentive of receiving lucrative contracts with the promotion saw a great spike in incredible performances.
