

Former UFC interim lightweight champ and #2 ranked lightweight contender Dustin Poirier recently made a humble request to the UFC’s official sponsor, Reebok. In his latest video from his twitter account, “The Diamond” suggested, “Reebok needs to make my el diamante headbands for my next fight!”

Poirier is seen sitting on the couch with his adorable four-year-old daughter, Parker Noelle Poirier.
Both are having a cute conversation where Poirier’s daughter asks him “Why you got that on daddy?” (referring to his diamond headband) to which Poirier replies “Because I’m crazy”.

The career of Dustin Poirier and future possibilities
After his loss to former UFC double-champ “The Notorious” Conor McGregor at featherweight, Poirier moved up to 155 pounds. He made his lightweight debut against Carlos Diego Ferreira, where he won by knockout in the first round. This earned him his first of performance of the night bonus.
Over the years, Dustin has proved himself to be one of the top guys in the mix at the lightweight division. His spectacular performances and relentless offense, always looking to finish, have made him a favorite amongst the fans.

He tasted gold when he won the interim lightweight championship via unanimous decision against the former featherweight champ, Max “Blessed” Holloway, who made his lightweight debut while already being the featherweight champ. Poirier eventually put on a masterful performance to beat Holloway.

Poirier then challenged the lightweight champion Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov for the undisputed title. The bout, however, would not go in Poirier’s favor as he was dominated for the majority of the fight. Expectedly, he lost via submission in the third round.
His last fight was in June against contender Dan Hooker, a complete slugfest where Poirier would win via unanimous decision. Moreover, the bout was awarded as the “Fight of the Night”.

Currently, talks of a potential bout with another former interim lightweight champ Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson are in progress. Dana White announced the possibility of the two fighting in a recent press conference. Poirier himself has also been dropping hints, calling out Ferguson on social media through his training videos. If this is true, and the two do meet in the octagon, we fans can surely expect fireworks.
