Conor McGregor marked his UFC debut in 2013 with an impressive knockout win. As the clock went seven seconds over the one-minute mark, McGregor knocked out Marcus Brimage to announce his arrival in UFC.

It was after the fight that McGregor first met Dana White. And it did not disappoint as well. Draped in an Irish flag, “The Notorious” embraced White as the UFC president showered praises of the Irishman.

“So, there’s been a lot of hype. I guess the hype is real,” White said to which McGregor replied by saying “yeah”. The two then continued to talk about the fight before changing the subject to his next fight.

The upcoming schedule of Conor McGregor is yet unknown

Since his first fight in 2013, McGregor has grown into one of the biggest superstars in the game. He came back from retirement earlier this year to defeat Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds. He is, however, yet to fight since then. And the ongoing coronavirus pandemic means that it is not going to be anywhere in the near future.

Even White is this time unsure of McGregor’s next fight.

“There’s three (events) that have already been postponed that we’re going to work out over the next several weeks,” White said recently. “And I don’t know where this puts anybody, because Conor really wants that rematch with Khabib, while Khabib and Tony or Gaethje won’t fight now until probably September.

“So yeah, nobody saw this coming. “This is one of those things you can’t predict, or see coming, but it happened, and we’re rolling with it and we’re gonna get it figured out.”

White has, however, managed to keep UFC 249 alive. With Khabib Nurmagomedov locked down in his hometown, White made a few last-minute adjustments to bring in Justin Gaethje to fight Tony Ferguson.

“I have a private island that I’ve secured; we’re getting the infrastructure put in now, so I’m gonna start doing the international fights, too,” he said of the venue of the fight. “With international fighters, because I won’t be able to get international fighters into the US. I have a private island that I’m gonna start flying them all in and doing international flights from there.

“So as of April 18th, the UFC is back up and running.
