The Nurmagomedov family patriarch first had health issues last month. At the time, reports said it was pneumonia. However, the 57-year-old insisted he was fine and continued to go about per his daily routine, rejecting coronavirus tests.

Early in May, the family moved him to a military hospital in Moscow. Here, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and placed in a medically induced coma after heart surgery.

The 28-0 fighter is currently observing the fasting period of Ramadan. He encouraged fellow Muslims to do the same in the absence of guests. This breaks the traditional gatherings system. But ‘The Eagle’ knows social distancing is crucial to combat the dreaded virus that has wreaked havoc with his father’s health.

The thoughts and prayers of the MMA world have been with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his family ever since the reports about his father’s health emerged.

Now they will once more keep their fingers crossed and pray for Abdulmanap’s recovery and safe return home.
