UFC lightweights Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker will face off against each other in May. However, the Coronavirus pandemic could prevent the match from happening.
The Coronavirus menace has affected all major sporting events including the UFC. While most fighters are afraid of not getting paid, Poirier and Hooker remain positive.
Instead of hyping up the fight or talking trash, the two men were polite and respectful towards each other. Both men seemed to understand the current global scenario and even sent well-wishes to each other’s family.

Poirier won the interim lightweight title against Max Halloway in April 2019. He then attempted to unify the against Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Khabib submitted Poirier in the third round. Since then, Poirier has been on the sidelines. A victory over Hooker could potentially put him back in title contention.
On the other hand, Dan Hooker has his own unique story.
After an unstable run in the UFC’s featherweight division, Hooker moved up to lightweight. So far, he has been successful with a record of 7-1 in the UFC’s lightweight division. He is coming off an impressive victory over Paul Felder. Hooker is currently on a three-fight win streak and will look forward to earning his first-ever title shot in the UFC.

A must-see battle
Poirier is one of the finest boxers in the division. With a black belt in BJJ, he is a serious threat on the ground as well. Whereas, Hooker is a lethal kickboxer who trains at City Kickboxing along with champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski.
Looking back at their records, both Poirier and Hooker, have been in brutal wars. Should this match take place, it will be a barn burner for sure.
