Ever since the UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, unfortunately, lost his father, no one is bothering him. But finally, there is a concrete update coming from his manager Ali Abdelaziz. The 31-YO undefeated MMA fighter in all its probability can go on to fight Justin Gaethje. Also, the manager clears the air around a Conor McGregor angle in this.

Justin is currently sitting at #11 in UFC pound-for-pound ranking, Khabib at #2, and McGregor at #10. This makes it an interesting triangle but not an equilateral one. The Russian’s manager totally denied a potential Khabib vs Conor rematch as of now. However, he spoke about various possibilities.

Khabib Nurmagomedov asked his manager…

No kidding! The Eagle himself asked his manager to ask Justin Gaethje to go fight McGregor. In Ali’s own words, “Justin said no, Khabib told me to tell Justin to go fight Conor, Justin said no. Listen we dictate, we dictate this, Conor right now, it’s he can be a backup fighter he can go make win and he can maybe make some money, at the end of the day that’s the two champions. He’s not even number 3, he’s number 4 or 5, like Conor is like you know he can go fight Nate.”

Now this one can really bite the retired fighter who can make a comeback without warning. Conor might have claimed that he had lost his interest but provocative things like this can put him back on the map.

So one thing is quite clear, we might get to witness a Justin Gaethje vs Khabib Nurmagomedov by this year’s end. Of course, Dana White is yet to make any such statement but these are the trustworthy words of Khabib’s manager.

So no Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor 2?

Interestingly, Ali said, “We’re not interested in fighting him, we need to get some wins, he needs to fight some good opponents. You know like I said, the only way he can fight Khabib if he fight Islam Makhachev and Khabib will fight him.”

Makhachev has an MMA record of 18-1-0. The 28-YO is trained by late Mr. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov and has grown up alongside Khabib. So McGregor now has another name to consider if he ever decides to again enter the Octagon. He will surely have to work his way up from here.
