Darren Till announced himself in the UFC with a lengthy unbeaten streak at Welterweight. Whilst in the division, he formed a friendship with fellow fighter Mike Perry. However, sometime back before ‘Platinum’ beat Mickey Gall, the relationship between the duo soured. At present they are capable of ripping each other to shreds should they come face to face.

Following this, Perry said, “All I got is some MMA gloves. That’s all I got, I don’t have bigger gloves.” ‘The Gorilla’ was taken aback momentarily as realization dawned on him that his friend was talking about ‘spar’ and not ‘spa.’ He replied, “What, you want to spar? Sparring?” The English fighter emphasized the last word of his question.

‘Platinum’ however continued from his initial sentence about the gloves. He said, But I know you spar different. I know how you are. You hit hard.”

The current 5th ranked Middleweight too seemed perplexed that he had misheard or misunderstood what Perry said. With a sheepish smile, he said, “Oh, I thought you meant to spa, like a steam? F**kin hell! F**kin hell!”

Darren Till proceeded to bury his face onto Perry’s shoulder. Perry maintained a poker-face and concluded, “No. I meant let’s go fight.”

Now, ‘The Gorilla’ seemed ready for the sparring session provided they could overcome a tiny issue. He said, “If you want, yea, yea, we can have a little go. I haven’t got my gloves at the moment.”

The present beef between Darren Till and Mike Perry

The English fighter lost his next two fights following the incident and moved to the UFC Middleweight division in 2019. Perry on the other hand has gone 2-3 since then and will not be offered a fight for a while.

For his part, Till made a website and social media accounts dedicated to trolling ‘Platinum.’ However, things took an ugly turn when ‘fans’ included Mike Perry’s girlfriend into the feud.

The days of friendly banter seem to be long gone and fans can look back wistfully at moments such as the “spa”, “spar” misunderstanding.
