Fighters claiming that the UFC isn’t paying them enough have dominated over the last weeks. First, it has been Jon Jones, then Francis Ngannou. Yesterday, BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal hit out at Dana White comparing UFC to the NFL and terming fighters as “independent contractors.” ‘Gamebred’ received support from an unlikely quarter and reacted to the same.

Jorge Masvidal responds to support from Chael Sonnen

The 3rd ranked Welterweight believes that ‘American Gangster’ shed light on the issue. However, he claims it is going much deeper than Sonnen broached.

“Thank you (Chael Sonnen) for bringing light to the problems. Always respected you since our bodog days. All that to the side this goes deeper than what you are trying to say. You are only seeing the top of the ice berg. I’m seeing (#revolution)”

‘The American Gangster’ put the spotlight on ‘Gamebred’s war with Dana White in his Beyond the Fight podcast. Here he described the BMF Champion as a well-read guy who studies and knows what he’s talking about. Now, he brings up ‘Gamebred’ tweets.

Sonnen says, “You don’t wanna pay me what I made last time…,” he continued, “that’s a very real thing. That’s a very psychological problem. Most of us are rewarded financially for a job well done, this sport isn’t different by a broad stroke as a 97% statement, but the other 3%”

Sonnen attributes that to having a good partner across you. He says business will be difficult to come by without a good partner. Furthermore, he adds that arguments such as winning the last fight have “holes in them.”

He continues, “Now second he’s talking about, why should I be punished if my opponent can’t draw? What he’s talking about is my opponent is in fact, my partner. But at the same time if I’m doing equal work why should I be brought down cause of him. “

As per Chael Sonnen, that argument makes sense psychologically and that’s where ‘Gamebred’ is right now. Furthermore, he highlights how at times fighters have to help their opponent as certain opponents would help them with massive drawing power.

However, he also states ‘Gamebred’ is close to being the guy who does the wrong thing. In ‘American Gangster’s exact words, he is “walking the line.”

Do you agree with Chael Sonnen’s view, or is Jorge Masvidal right in this being way deeper?
