In a surprising move, UFC President Dana White praised former UFC fighter, Phillipe Nover.

Phillipe Nover competed on season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter. Although he made it to the season finale, Nover couldn’t secure the victory. After his only fight—in the UFC—in 2010, Nover tried his luck in other promotions. Eventually, he signed with the UFC in 2015 for the second time and fought until 2017.

Nover retired in 2017 with a record of 11-8-1,0NC. Currently, he works as a nurse at a hospital in Brooklyn, New York. The American is a frontline worker combating COVID-19.

“Hearing all the incredible things you’re doing on the frontlines of New York City. You’re awesome, kid!” White told TMZ. “I have so much respect for, not just you, but for everybody who is part of the first responders and the medical staff that are taking care of everybody and putting yourself in harm’s way to help others,” White added.

Dana White had a tough time dealing with the pandemic. The UFC juggernaut tried to put up a show (UFC 249) despite the outbreak. However, he had to postpone the event when top Disney and ESPN officials interfered.
