Walking into the fight, Zarah Fairn had won three of her last four matches. Fairn is a pioneer of women’s MMA in France.

She was submitted by Megan Anderson before her fight with Spencer. Zarah Fairn was the oldest fighter on the card. Establishing herself as a striker, four out of her six wins came by a knockout.

On the other hand, Spencer was coming off a unanimous decision loss against Cris Cyborg. It is the only loss on Spencer’s pro record. Spencer was a heavy favourite walking into the fight.

It was a classic striker vs grappler matchup in which Felicia Spencer was the better grappler.

After a few striking exchanges, Spencer gets Fairn on the fence. Fairn was able to defend the takedown for a while. However, Spencer eventually took her down. From there onwards, everything went south for Fairn.

Spencer quickly mounted Fairn and rained down heavy shots. She brutalized her opponent with nasty elbows to the face, some of them landed clean. The vicious ground and pound forced Fairn to give up her back but Spencer did not stop punching.

Fairn turned once again in the hopes of getting out but Spencer continued the onslaught. Eventually, the referee stopped the fight and saved Fairn from any further damage.

Post-fight, Spencer acknowledged that she wanted to show a violent side of herself.

When commentator Michael Bisping asked her what’s next, Spencer said: “It puts me in the perfect spot.” Proclaiming herself as the next contender for the title shot.

With a TKO victory like that, Spencer is probably next in line for a title shot against Amanda Nunes. Even the champion was impressed with her performance. Nunes hinted a match with Spencer as well as Megan Anderson, who won by a KO earlier.
