Curtis Blaydes showcased his superior wrestling skills against a helpless Alexander Volkov. En route his one-sided triumph, ‘Razor’ set a new record for most takedowns in a UFC Heavyweight fight. He landed 14 takedowns on ‘Drago’ to relegate Cain Velasquez’ 11 takedown effort against Junior dos Santos at UFC 155 to second place. The fight was largely on the ground, which may have bored casuals and neutrals. UFC President Dana White too can be added to this category.

Dana White says Curtis Blaydes looked stupid

In a media interaction following the main event, Dana White highlighted ‘Razor’s tall claims all week long. Here he addressed the fact that ‘Razor’ did not back up his pre-fight talks.

“Curtis Blaydes has the wrong attitude as far as I’m concerned. I don’t have anything against the kid at all. You know, you talk s**t like he did this week. Then you better come in a whopping somebody’s a** when you talk s**t like that.”

Despite stating that he doesn’t have anything against the 29-year-old, the UFC President said that the performance made the Heavyweight look “stupid.”

“When you talk the s**t that he talked and you perform like you performed tonight. You look stupid.”

No matter of the fight not being remembered, but Blaydes knows that the history books will show that he claimed the W. He tied Augusto Sakai and Francis Ngannou for most wins in the division. When Herb Dean raised his arm, he moved into second for most Heavyweight wins since 2016.

As a result of his win, Blaydes will cement his place at 3rd in the Heavyweight rankings and will be in prime position to challenge for the Heavyweight title in the near future. The hurdle, if it does come, will most likely be against Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou.

Whilst he hasn’t faced the former, his only defeats as a professional fighter have come against the latter. The duo is not as easy to be taken down and has amazing punching power. However, ‘Razor Seems focused on his strength of wrestling, wearing opponents down, and treating them like rag dolls.

That will certainly not change despite the accusation of him “looking stupid.” What do you make of Dana White’s comments on Curtis Blaydes?
