When the 3rd and 5th ranked UFC Lightweight fighters stepped into the Octagon, they seemed to have decided to absolutely thrill fans with their spirit and insane will. Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker fought for the full 25 in a back-and-forth clash, which commanded praise from their fellow UFC fighters. The duo drew blood and fans got to see grappling, striking, takedowns. It wasn’t one-sided, with both sides being in the ascendancy at different times during the fight. ‘The Hangman’ landed more strikes in round 2. However, ‘The Diamond’ stayed strong under pressure and claimed his 18th UFC win.

Following his record-equaling win, Poirier, who moved into 8th in the all-time list, was active on social media. Minutes after the fight he tweeted an image of himself inside an ambulance. This was just before being taken to a Las Vegas hospital. Here, he is looking pumped, and is no doubt fueled by adrenaline as he writes, “25 minutes! Paid in Full.”

He said, “Whew, that was a fun one. Going to the hospital to get my head scanned then see my wife, go home, see my daughter. Thank you all.”

The win will ensure that ‘The Diamond’ doesn’t get leapfrogged in the rankings by ‘Hangman.’ Furthermore, he could even be in with a shout of surpassing Tony Ferguson.
