According to media reports, Holland has suffered an undisclosed injury. He was scheduled to fight Daniel Rodriguez this weekend. The news was first reported by MMA Junkie. The UFC has not yet released an unofficial statement. There is a possibility that the organization is actively looking for a replacement for Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old Holland was looking to make good use of a quick victory earlier this month. He had earned a quick victory via a technical knockout in the very first round against Hernandez at UFC on ESPN 8. However, the latest injury has derailed his plans for the weekend.

“Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to the scrap,” Holland wrote on his IG story. “I’ve done this rehab before and I hope to run through it as I did the last time. We will be back. First thing’s first, getting back healthy.”

A Dana White Contender Series product, Holland was initially expected to fight Jack Marshman on March 21, 2020. The UFC scrapped the event because of the outbreak of Covid-19. Holland instead ended up fighting Hernandez. His upcoming fight against Rodriguez would have served as his Welterweight debut. Kevin’s injury also implies that Daniel Rodriguez is left in limbo.
