Fans Viciously Troll Claressa Shields on Twitter After She Tries to Tout Her Overall Success

The sport of MMA can be quite unforgiving at times, and fans often troll fighters for comments they make. A similar incident took place when Claressa Shields took to Twitter recently and ended up calling her a shot regarding her career. ‘T-Rex’ Shields talked about how she had successfully handled her educational degree alongside a career in boxing.

Shields reminded fans that she has reached the highest of heights in the sport of boxing while still graduating High School with a 3.0 GPA. According to Shields, the combat sports community overlooked the fact that she successfully managed to be an all-around talent.

However, fans were fixated on her score and never truly picked up on her point of view. Instead of internalizing her perspective on things, fans simply trolled Claressa Shields for her high school graduation score. Chiefly, this isn’t the first time that the fanbase has decided to forgo the original point and fixate on a secondary narrative.

Claressa Shields: Making her mark in MMA

While fans may be ready to give Shields a hard time, her accomplishments in the sport of boxing speak for itself. The multiple-time champion decided to try her hand at MMA and has been able to garner a lot of attention. She fights in the PFL and 1-1 so far in her MMA career.

Shields won her debut after overcoming some adversity on the ground against Brittney Elkin. She turned the tide and earned the TKO in the final round, thus kicking off her MMA career on a high note. However, she would lose her second fight to Abigail Montes via split decision in October 2021.

Shields wasn’t able to have the same amount of success as her first outing and fell prey to Montes’ pressure. Not to mention, her pace declined as the fight went on as well. All in all, there were several learning moments in the fight for the boxer-turned-MMA fighter.

She trains out of Jackson-Wink in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is surrounded by talent such as Holly Holm. Given her acumen in boxing Claressa Shields has the potential to reach the apex within MMA as well.
