UFC Raleigh: Watch Curtis Blaydes Dominate Former Champion, Junior dos Santos Securing a TKO Win

Curtis Blaydes stepped into the octagon to face the former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos in the main event of UFC Raleigh. This was the opportunity Blaydes needed to solidify his place as one of the strong contenders for that heavyweight gold and he did just that. Curtis Blaydes finished the fight in 1:06 minutes of Round 2.

Junior dos Santos Defended Blaydes’ Takedowns

Going into the fight the narrative was of a Wrestler vs Striker matchup and rightfully. Blaydes prefers to take his opponents down and hurt them with some vicious ground and pound. On the other, Junior dos Santos is a phenomenal striker with solid takedown defense. However, the fight did not play out the way it was expected to be. Junior dos Santos defended all the takedown from Curtis Blaydes in the first round.

Curtis Blaydes Shows Some Lethal Striking

However, Blaydes started mixing it up with his striking and landed some good combinations. Junior dos Santos did not look in his elements. he was even hurt at the end of round 1. However, he survived to see the second round. Blaydes rocked JDS with a right overhand and backed him up against the fence for the finishing sequence. With this win, Curtis Blaydes is now on a 3 fight win streak since his loss to Francis Ngannou. Blaydes last fought at UFC 242 where he secured a second-round TKO win.

On the other hand, things do not look well for the former champion, Junior dos Santos. He was coming from a loss against Francis Ngannou and he suffered yet another defeat from a top contender for the title. After this loss, JDS has to get on an impressive winning streak to get an opportunity to regain the heavyweight title. As far as, Curtis Blaydes is concerned a fight against Derrick Lewis will make the most sense for him if Lewis comes out victorious in his next fight.
