Former UFC strawweight champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is scheduled to main event UFC Tampa this weekend against Michelle Waterson. However, this main event was in jeopardy when news of Joanna Jedrzejczyk having trouble with the weight cut came out.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk has already informed UFC a week ago regarding the issues she is facing with the weight cut. UFC also has been looking for substitutes for the main event after Michelle Waterson denied the offer to fight the former champion on a catchweight. UFC was even thinking about adding a fight between Michelle Waterson and Jessica Andrade to the already stacked UFC 244 card.

“I am going to say the same. Did I miss something? Was the weigh-ins today? Is the weigh-ins tomorrow? So please give me time and space to make weight and fight Michelle Waterson on Saturday”

Weight cuts are never easy for any fighters unless they are fighting in a weight class where they don’t have to cut a lot of weight before a couple of days from the fight.

“There are always some troubles with the weight cut. There is always some risk. Your body can just shut down and you are not able to make weight. I know people are smart so it’s easy to say go on the treadmill and run for 10 hrs and don’t eat. But it’s not like that. People are not involved, don’t know a lot about should just stay quiet and wait till the end.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk last fought in flyweight division against Valentina Schechanko and this will be her first fight in strawweight division since July 2019. Though there are still some questions surrounding the main event of UFC Tampa, Joanna Jedrzejczyk is confident that she will make weight and fight Michelle Waterson in the main event.
