“Serena Hit Me Up and I Almost Died!” – Ronda Rousey Once Had a Nervous Moment With Serena Williams

Ronda Rousey and Serena Williams could be the biggest stars in their respective sports of MMA and Tennis. These two legendary athletes had an interaction with each other in 2015. Back then, MMA was a relatively new sport. Besides, Rousey was only the first female athlete to make it big. Meanwhile, the younger Williams sister was a renowned star. Thus, the moment was a surreal experience for ‘Rowdy‘.

In an interview with E! News, the former UFC women’s bantamweight world champion talked about her warm meeting with ‘Meka‘.

After hanging out with ‘cool’ fellow athlete, Ronda Rousey expressed, “Serena [Williams] hit me up and I almost died!”

“At first I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so nervous.’ And then after a few minutes, I was like, ‘This girl is so awesome!’,” added six-time UFC women’s bantamweight champion. “We ‘handled’ some sushi,” Rousey offered, expressing she had some quality food with ‘ReRe‘.

In 2015, Rousey was on top of the world with an undefeated UFC record. Besides, it was her dominant performances inside the Octagon that made it even more special. Her work inside the Octagon contributed to her success outside. Thus, she achieved many milestones, such as being the first woman to star on the cover of Australia’s Men’s Fitness magazine.

Both ‘The Beast of Burden‘ and ‘Rowdy‘ shared another feat in 2015; They both were the nominee for the Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year award. Both athletes had phenomenal years in their sports and created multiple milestones throughout the year.

A young gymnast sensation, 18-year-old, at the time, Simone Biles was the third woman candidate on the list that featured the likes of Usain Bolt, Stephen Curry, Thomas Davis, Carli Lloyd, Lionel Messi, Kansas City Royals, Jordan Spieth, American Pharoah, Novak Djokovic.

Serena Williams eventually won the award. Although she came short in achieving the Grand Slam in the year 2015, she won three major titles: French Open, Wimbledon, and the Australian Open.
