UFC President Dana White spoke to the media following UFC Vegas 12 and expressed his views on former champion Anderson Silva. ‘The Spider’ was TKOed by Uriah Hall in the main event in what was said to be his last UFC fight. Per White, there is no room for negotiation on this fact. He confirmed to reporters that this would be the final time he would compete in the company.

Although the fight was competitive, with Silva winning the first round, the 45-year-old just wasn’t able to cut it. He was dropped by ‘Prime Time’ at the end of the third round and subsequently finished in the fourth.

The long-time boss of the UFC wasn’t too pleased about Silva’s performance and about the fight as a whole. However, before speaking on the fight, White chimed in on the fact that he made a mistake by allowing Anderson to compete.

“We had a deal. When he signs this contract that this will be his last fight. This week he came out in an interview and I don’t know cause I don’t trust half these guys in the fu**ing media and what they say. All I can tell you is what I read and what I usually read is fu**ing bulls**  so let me start here. That it used to be like a family when Lorenzo was here and all that kind stuff.”

“Listen, we all miss Lorenzo and I will always admit that Lorenzo was the gentler, kinder side of the UFC but I’ve done nothing but be good to Anderson Silva and tonight I don’t feel good about myself that I let Anderson Silva fight this last fight.”

White was quick to blame himself for allowing Silva to step into the cage to compete. He hasn’t been able to replicate the success of his title run for several recent years.

“We’ve treated Anderson Silva with nothing but respect and if you guys knew what Anderson Silva gets paid to fight you’d sh** you fu**ing pants. I think we’ve treated him like family. I shouldn’t have let him fight this fight tonight.”

Dana White: “I’ll never let him fight here again”

Although fans and media members were lauding the Hall vs Silva bout, White wasn’t too impressed, to say the least. He wasn’t happy with the fact that Silva wasn’t able to stand-up for his post-fight interview and largely blamed himself.

“Look at Anderson, he couldn’t even stand-up to do his interview. He had to sit down to do his interview, and I made a big mistake. I shouldn’t have let him fight this fight tonight. Out of respect to him, he’s a legend of the sport and he’s a legend of this company I did something that I disagreed with. I knew I was right and tonight proved I was right and Anderson Silva should never fight again.”

“Listen, I’m not trying to prevent him from doing anything. He’s a grown man and he can do what he wants. I’ll never let him fight here again, I want him to retire, and what I hope he goes home and his family tell him the same thing.”

“No 46-year-old should be fighting”

As ‘The Spider’ is now pushing 46-years of age, it is understandable that Dana wants him to move on. Anderson hasn’t built a winning streak in several years and has only shown glimpses of his former self.

“I’m in a hard position’ cause this is a guy I care about. This is a guy that’s been with the company for a long time. He’s a legend of this company and I don’t want to sit up here and sh** on him but he’s almost 46 years old and unless you’re trying to save you life or defend your family no 46 years old should be fighting. Period.”

There remains some uncertainty as to the next phase of Anderson Silva’s career. He has spoken out on possibly making a run in the sport of boxing. However, one thing is for sure, the Brazilian icon will never fight under the bright lights of the UFC octagon.
