UFC President Dana White spoke to Laura Sanko after UFC Vegas 13 wrapped up at the Apex Facility. Light heavyweight Glover Teixeira tapped out Thiago Santos via RNC submission in the main event of the Fight Night card. Chiefly, the 41-year-old veteran is now on a five-fight win streak and he’s on the line to face the undisputed champion.

What’s more, out of 27 fights in his professional career that have been finished, nine have come via submission. Teixeira faced adversity at the hands of Santos, and the win came at a cost, to say the least. ‘Marreta’ rocked Glover on two occasions in the fight that came to an end early in the third.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt was heavily inclined towards taking the fight to the ground and was met with very little resistance. Moreover, he stayed active on the canvas and frequently landed heavy shots to Santos’ dome. However, ‘Marreta’ was able to weather the storm in the hopes that he would find the KO.

“As I was sitting and listening to him give his interview, he’s not wrong,’I deserve this shot’…he’s been here forever, he’s on a streak. He looked great tonight and what’s funny is every time I count this guy out and think ‘I don’t think he’s got it’, he proves me wrong. He looked incredible tonight”

Additionally, White was asked about the possible timeline of Teixeira’s title shot against Blachowicz. Chiefly, Jan Blachowicz is in line to face the current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. The company President was rather non-committal on giving an answer. However, Dana did mention that Glover was someone who he was taking seriously.

White said, “It’s something we need to figure out. But I heard him, I agree with him and I’m taking him serious so yeah, I’m not gonna doubt this guy anymore.”

After spending years trying to get another crack at the belt, the path to gold is within sight for Teixeira. However, the move-up by Israel Adesanya from middleweight has certainly caused issues for a clear timeline.
