By the end, there was little doubt that RDA had done enough to solidify a clear-cut win on the scorecards.

Rafael dos Anjos is keen to chase the UFC lightweight strap once more, and he’s certainly inching towards that goal. He’s accrued 15 wins in the division and will aim to reach the divisional leader who has 19 wins. Additionally, it’s Dos Anjos’ well-rounded game that makes him a threat to once again capture gold.

“I think I want to face whoever is on the line for that belt. I know I got a lot in me still, at 36 years old, tonight was my thirtieth UFC appearance I think.”

“If Khabib is really retired it will leave the division wide open and if you look to the contenders I think that only me and Conor we are the only real champions on that division. Everybody else is interim champions so I think if the division is open me and Conor is the fight to make.”

McGregor and Dos Anjos were slated to fight each other in 2016 when ‘RDA’ was the undisputed lightweight champion. Moreover, the two pose a stylistic treat for fans as their striking is as elite as it gets. Per Rafael dos Anjos’ point, if Khabib Nurmagomedov is truly retired, this opens the door to a massive former ‘Champ vs Champ’ match-ups. There is no doubt that fans will get behind this booking.
