UFC middleweight Darren Stewart spoke to the media ahead of his fight at UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Muhammad. Darren ‘The Dentist’ will open the main card with a nail-biter against Eryk Anders, and he has an opportunity to make a statement.
Chiefly fans are looking at the fight as a sure-fire contender for ‘Fight of the Night’. Both men have explosive fighting styles, and their resume is a testament to that fact.
Moreover, the middleweight division constantly provides high octane match-ups, making it a must-watch for fight fans. Israel Adesanya has set a high standard for the division, and the current crop of 185-pounders are all but expected to pick it up.

Darren Stewart lays in on the rules of MMA
In light of the recent debacle at UFC 259’s bantamweight title fight between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling, the rules have been called into question. Darren Stewart wasn’t having any of it, and the Englishman had plenty to say.

“I like to scrap man, there’s too many rules in the MMA game. If someone can hold you against the cage and they’re not doing f-all, well you’re losing cause your backs against the cage or they can put you on the floor and they’re not doing nothing to you but your backs or the floor so you’re losing.”
‘I come to fight’- Darren ‘The Dentist’ goes off
Additionally, he commented on his own fighting style that he plans to showcase for fans on the big stage. Stewart likes to push the action, and he clearly isn’t a fan of a more reserved approach to the fight game.

“There’s too many rules, man, just fight, bruv. You hit me, I hit you. We keep going at it, you know what I’m saying…go get your bonus, go get your money.
“Don’t get me wrong, a fight is a fight, there’s going to be a time when you swing and you might back a bit, it’s part of the fight game. But in terms of hitting and running and just holding you there, yeah, it’s long.

“I come to fight, I don’t come to play MMA. I’m not here to play MMA.”
Eryk Anders is a game opponent who most certainly knows what it means to bring the fight to his opponents. However, he’ll not be doing himself any favors if he’s defensively irresponsible while facing Stewart. ‘The Dentist’ is extremely heavy-handed and is dangerous once the fight moves into the latter rounds.
