‘I’ve Been Broke My Whole Life’- Cheyanne Buys Breaks Down After Learning She Got a $50,000 Bonus Paycheck for Winning at UFC Vegas 33

UFC strawweight Cheyanne Buys picked up the biggest win of her MMA career as she scored a TKO finish at UFC Vegas 33. ‘The Warrior Princess’ stopped Gloria de Paula in merely 60 seconds with some vicious ground and pound.

Chiefly, the finishing sequence was kicked off right as both fighters broke away from a takedown, and Buys landed a head kick. De Paula was stunned and was briskly finished by Cheyanne Buys who showcased a comprehensive killer instinct.

The referee had no choice but to pull Buys off her opponent and now ‘The Warrior Princess’ is back to winning ways. She’s been earmarked as a star from early on in her fight career and can potentially be someone who is a future titleholder.

Cheyanne Buys is $50,000 richer

Buys was greeted with a pleasant surprise backstage as it was revealed she picked up the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus. This is something that Buys angled for during her post-fight interview with Paul Felder and she got her wish.

“I am negative in my account right now so it’s going to make a big difference. My whole paycheck actually is, I have to pay back $15,000 for a loan I got from a few people so I made 10 and 10 for my win and show so that $20,000 was just gone.”

“I was okay with it. I was okay if I won and that check was gone because I made the move out here and I knew this fight was just going to be just for the move but it was the best decision me and my husband made for our careers.”

“Just to get that bonus…I’ve been broke my whole life because of this sport but it’s so worth it to me. I love this sport. It’s life-changing for sure, but I got to put the money away and go out there and fight again.”
