VIDEO: Cheyanne Buys Secures 60 Second Head Kick TKO Over Gloria de Paula at UFC Vegas 33

UFC strawweight Cheyanne Buys scored the fourth fastest finish in the history of the flyweight division at UFC Vegas 33. ‘The Warrior Princess’ closed the show at 1:00 of the very first round after landing a picture-perfect head kick. Buys landed the finishing blow on Gloria de Paula as she was getting up off the canvas following a takedown.

De Paula managed to hang on after being head kicked and referee Mark Smith allowed the action to continue. Cheyanne Buys didn’t wait around as she swarmed her opponent and landed multiple heavy elbows and follow-up shots. Smith had no choice but to step in and stop the fight handing Buys the TKO win.

Cheyanne Buys came into the contest off a loss and was determined to get back on track in a huge way. Her post-fight interview with Paul Felder was extremely insightful as Buys talked about her struggle to reach this moment. She was hopeful to receive the performance bonus to recover the costs of moving houses to further her MMA career.

Cheyanne Buys: Making her mark

UFC legend Jon Jones took notice of Cheyanne Buys’ passion and commended her on social media. ‘Bones’ has always spoken out about being married to the craft of fighting and he sees something in Cheyanne Buys. Moreover, she also managed to utilize her co-main event feature spot very effectively as all eyeballs were on her.

She also revealed on the mic that her game plan revolved around grappling and that she didn’t expect a knockout finish. De Paula is technical on the feet and Buys was expecting the bout to be contested on the canvas. However, that wasn’t the case as Buys made sure to earn a statement win for all to see.
