After Covington lost the fight to Usman, it became very obvious that Usman and Masvidal are going to fight next. However, Masvidal campaigned for a BMF showdown with Conor McGregor over the Usman fight. It seemed fans will again get their wish granted and Masvidal would face Conor.
However, that fight is unlikely to come to fruition in the near future. That leaves Masvidal with no option but to go for the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. And fans got to see Masvidal and Usman come face to face, which resulted in a heated verbal altercation. Though there was no three-piece and soda served by Masvidal, fans are now more intrigued to see how this welterweight rivalry plays out.

Not so long ago Edwards was on the receiving end of Masvidal’s three-piece and soda. Edwards campaigned for the Masvidal fight for a meaningful period. However, he has not been fortunate enough to get an opportunity to avenge that beating. But he believes that fight is going to happen this year. Edwards stated:
“When I get past Tyron Woodley, that fight will be down the line. If I don’t fight for the title next they will probably give him in May probably. Cause I would have just fought. But that fight(Masvidal vs Edwards) will happen this year. That fight needs to happen. We will fight on the street or in the octagon. It will be a fight whenever we see each other.”
Leon Edwards is on an impressive win streak in the division. But he is going to meet his toughest test yet when he takes on the former welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. If Edwards gets past Woodley then undoubtedly he will be next for the welterweight title.
