Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has officially signed a one-year contract with ISL team Kerala Blasters. The Bulgarian became a free agent in June 2016 after exiting PAOK Salonika. Berbatov is Bulgaria’s leading scorer with 48 goals scored from 79 matches.

Berbatov will see a few familiar faces in the Kerala Blasters camp as the marquee have also signed former United defender Wes Brown and former United first team coach Rene Meulensteen as well. Dimitar has been named Bulgaria’s Footballer of the year seven times and is one of the country’s most successful and well known players. Also recorded in his illustrious resume are stints with teams like Bayern Leverkusen, Monaco and CSKA Sofia. He joined United in 2008 and enjoyed a successful 4-year tenure with the Red Devils.

Kerala Blasters now have another weapon at their disposal and Dimitar’s inclusion will surely reap rewards for the 2017-18 ISL season.
