Tyson the four-year-old colt continued its winning streak at Grade 2  $175,000 Seagram Cup Stakes. The Seagram Cup Stakes is a thoroughbred race conducted annually at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada. This year six horses participated in the event.

Tyson entered the race with odds 2-5 but managed to upset all. From the start, he took the lead and managed to finish it despite stiff competition from the Carrothers. He carried on his winning form from the last race and was ridden by  Rafael Hernandez.

Tyson with $225,205 in total earnings came to the event after winning Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes by one and a half lengths at the beginning of this month. The four-year-old colt started the race with a bang. He took an early lead at one and one-sixteenth-mile contest at Woodbine Racetrack. Tyson completed the opening quarter-mile in 25.26 seconds and held a two-length advantage over nearest rival Carrothers. Other horses watched the two reach the half-mile in  49.88 seconds.

As the race continued and started to approach the wire the head-to-head contest continued. At last, in the last push, Tyson took a clear lead and won the race by a three-length win and completed the race in 1:43.26. Carrothers came second and Artie’s Storm came third in the race. Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings and Stretch Run Ventures’ horse has impressed the trainer and jockey with its win. His trainer is  Josie Carroll and she said, “This horse just improves steadily. He has matured so much with racing“.

The jockey was happy with the son of Tapit and said, “He’s a really nice horse“. He further said that before the race the trainer told him, “Just play it by ear. It’s a small field, just see what happens and try to give a good race to the horse.” The colt never disappointed his trainer held true to her belief. This is another step in the colt’s career which is a boost for a better future.

Tyson the best pedigree horse

The colt was named after the famous boxer Mike Tyson. John Sikura who is the co-breeder and co-owner of the horse has applauded the effort of the horse. According to him,  “It’s one of our best pedigrees, one that we’ve cultivated for more than 30 years“. He further said that it’s a wonderful horse that is beautifully bred. He thanks all the people involved at the farm in his care. Sikura especially appreciates the trainer Josie for her effort into training him into a winner.

Tyson has in total five career starts in his career in which he had first position four times and finished at third once. This year he had four races in which he won three. He added $193,405  this year to his total career earnings.
