There are athletes whose skills push them to excel in their sports. They make records and put an unerasable impression on their field. The same stands true for Tony Hawk. He was the first player to perform the historic ‘900’ trick in skateboarding history. His tricks and skills attracted spectators of all ages and influenced the young to take up the game. Recently, his old video resurfaced on social media igniting the memories of his unusual feet.

In the summer of June 27th, 1999 the skateboarder was about to make history and engrave his name among the legends forever. The record was registered during X Game V, a competition that he was one of people who the helped to set up during mid 90’s.? His intent was to perform 900.

The forgettable feet of Tony Hawk

900 refers to aerial spinning 900 degrees during skateboarding. It was a record that was impossible to achieve. But, the birdman’s courage never let him stop. He made ten unsuccessful attempts. But, on the eleventh attempt his efforts paid results and he tasted success. Though his landing was shaky, he managed to achieve the fabled 900.

The crowd erupted with joy and ran to lift the Birdman. He acknowledged his crowd support by saying “If it weren’t for you people, I would have never made it”. He expressed his happiness by describing the event as the best day of his life and ending with “I swear to God”.

Fan’s enthusiastic reaction to the clip

The reaction of fans to the clip says all about their respect and the importance of the record. The Instagram post garnered more than 95,000 likes. The skateboarders were not shy from expressing their feelings. While one fan couldn’t hide their passion and said” What a perfect time for me to be ten years old“. Another online viewer expressed their astonishment by saying, “Wild that there’s still only a handful of people that can land it “. Another fan said, “This was my moon landing“. Tony retired from the sport in 2003 but is associated with it in other forms.
