Allyson Felix writes a heartwarming letter
35-year-old Felix is a proud mother of her 2-year-old daughter, Camryn. Being a mother, Allyson decided to help children who have a tough time socializing in peer groups. In collaboration with Romper, Felix wrote a special letter for all the kids around the world.
Notably, the American sprinting legend opened up about her own childhood experiences and how she faced challenges to connect with other kids. Allyson revealed that the real reason she stepped onto the track was to find long-lasting friendships and create unmatchable bonds.

Allyson wrote, “Although I didn’t experience a pandemic when I was young, I can still relate to feeling nervous at recess or undecided on who to sit with at lunch. This is where I discovered sports. When I first tried out, I never thought that I’d travel the world or see my name in newspapers. For me, I started running to make lasting friendships and surround myself with other kids who understood me.”

Allyson competed in her first-ever mega-quadrennial games as a mother, even after going through a tough pregnancy phase. However, nothing stopped her from reaching the Olympic podium.
In her letter, she also gave kids some tips on how to open up with people. Her key points were, find a group with a shared interest, talk to someone who is alone, ask questions, don’t be afraid to say yes, spend time with people that help you grow, and be the kind of friend you want to have.
