Simone Biles is arguably one of the greatest to step foot in the world of gymnastics. At just 19 years of age, she made her Olympic debut in the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she dazzled in several events.

She claimed four gold medals and a bronze medal to put herself on the map. Although she didn’t repeat the same amount of success in this year’s Tokyo Olympics, she claimed a silver and a bronze medal in the Japanese capital. This took her to seven career Olympic medals, making her the most decorated American female gymnast along with Shannon Miller.

While Biles often competes barefoot, there are occasions where she wears socks in her practice sessions. With this being a lesser known fact, the 24-year-old revealed why she chooses to do so.

Yesterday, Biles put out an ‘Ask me Anything’ on her Instagram story, which saw her take a number of questions. One of her eagle-eyed fans asked her why she wears socks when she practices on the bars.

The 24-year-old responded by mentioning the role it has in keeping her feet warm. She wrote, “I feel like it prevents my feet from becoming raw & my feet honestly are always cold!”

There are a few gymnasts in the world who grace the global stage while wearing socks. However, Biles isn’t among those gymnasts, as she performs some of the most outrageous maneuvers barefoot.

Where is Biles now?

The seven-time Olympic medallist is currently touring the United States of America with her ‘Gold Over America’ Tour. It started on September 21, and will go on till November 7.

Her next show takes place in the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee today. In the coming days, she will perform in Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis and many more states. The tour ends on November 7 in the TD Garden in Boston.
