The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees share one of the fiercest of rivalries that goes beyond the MLB. The origins of this rivalry date back to more than a century ago and continue to be one of the most talked-about topics, every MLB season.
Although they faced the Tampa Bay Rays in the fourth game of the ALDS on Monday, fans of the Red Sox couldn’t keep the Yankees out of it. In fact, during the game, the crowd at Fenway Park made their feelings for their long-time rivals heard with a chant.

Fans of the Boston Red Sox chant against the New York Yankees
Prior to the postseason this year, the Red Sox and the Yankees faced an arduous path in the regular season. In the last few games, they competed for two wildcard spots along with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners.
Both teams suffered a few losses, which saw their rival fans get on their backs on more than one occasion. Ultimately, both teams made the AL Wildcard game with identical 92-70 records. On October 5th, the Red Sox scored an impressive 6-2 victory over the Yankees to meet the Rays in the ALDS.

And they went one better this past Monday, as they stunned the Rays 3-1 to progress to the ALCS. Despite beating the Yankees nearly a week ago, Monday’s game saw Red Sox fans berate the Yankees, as a chant of “Yankees s**k,” broke out in Fenway Park.
And now for no apparent reason, a "Yankees Suck" chant breaks out at Fenway.

With the Red Sox stunning the Rays, they now wait to find out who their opponents will be in the ALCS, which could either be the Chicago White Sox or the Houston Astros. Should they produce more victories in the best-of-seven series, one can expect these chants to get even louder.
Yankees still in doubt over manager Aaron Boone’s future
While the Red Sox march on in the postseason, the Yankees find themselves in a situation of wondering about their future. Following their loss to the Red Sox, the future of their manager Aaron Boone has been the subject of many questions.
Boone forged an excellent reputation since joining the iconic franchise in 2018. In fact, his exploits in the last four seasons see him linked to the San Diego Padres, who finished third in the NL West division this season.

The Yankees haven't announced what their intentions are with Manager Aaron Boone, whose contract expires right after the World Series. He can be a free agent then, and there is industry speculation he could emerge as a viable candidate for the San Diego Padres if he leaves NYY.

In his first two seasons with the Yankees, Boone saw the team garner over 100 wins in the regular season. While he saw the team reach the playoffs in every season, he failed to reach the World Series with them.
