When Bruce Lee returned to America in 1959, he decided to give martial arts classes to generate money for his expenditure. However, gaining students in the country initially was not an easy journey as Lee was not famous back then. However, the master’s fate changed when he met Jesse Glover, his first-ever student in the US. Recently, fans were left surprised at the never seen picture of the master-student duo.
On April 19, Bruce Lee’s Instagram official page shared a picture of Bruce Lee and Jesse Glover displaying their martial art skills in 1961. The image was a treat for the Master’s fans.

The latest post on Lee’s memoir page featured Bruce Lee and his student Jesse Glover performing at the Trade Fair in Seattle. They were demonstrating a Kung Fu move on the stage that suggested Lee was in a defensive stance, whereas Jesse Glover was trying to attack him. The post also added a caption stating the details of the pictures, “Bruce and his student, Jesse Glover, at the Trade Fair in Seattle, Washington. Photo taken in 1961.”

Jesse Glover first saw Bruce Lee performing Kung Fu at the Chinese Youth Club in 1959. The Master did a stunning Southern Praying Mantis with intricate hand movements. It dazzled Glover in the audience. He was aspiring to learn martial arts. Although Glover previously learned Judo, he found Kung Fu interesting too. But no trainer in the country accepted him as a student. Hence, after spotting Lee, he gathered the courage to request him to teach him, Kung Fu. On the other, The Little Phoenix, who was looking for students in the US was overwhelmed by getting discovered by his first student. That’s how they began their student-teacher relationship.
