Jackie Chan has been married to the love of his life for more than four decades now. He met the Taiwanese actress Joan Lin in 1981, and after a year of knowing each other, the couple soon decided to tie the knot. A companionship this long certainly had some obstacles to go through. Chan’s wife handled the household and took care of Jaycee when the actor was not around. She had been managing everything silently until her son revealed that he wanted to pursue the same career as his father. This devastated Joan, and she couldn’t hold it any longer and started crying.

Later she burst into tears and shared,?“The movie business has already taken away my husband. I don?t want to lose my son, too.??This revelation startled the actor. Chan, who was busy making movies, then understood that he had been failing to make a good husband. And to change that, they came up with an idea. As he wrote,?“We?d made a rule for our marriage early on that we would never sulk privately about little things, but just say outright whatever was bothering us. When I wasn?t away filming, we had a once-a-week standing date to do just that.”

They would sit and talk about each other’s shortcomings on a weekly basis. And as per Chan, that helped the couple learn about their own flaws and to work on them. Later the actor revealed how he was grateful to Joan for being supportive and making life easier for him.
