Last night the WNBA match between Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever drew a lot of limelight for a different season. The close fight ended by the Fever’s side as they defeated the Chicago Sky 71-70. However, the debate centered on Chennedy Carter’s foul against Caitlin Clark during the game. Caitlin, the Indiana Fever rookie, had remained numb after facing the shoulder shot and a ‘B****’ slang from the Chicago Sky guard. But soon she found a lot of voices protesting against the foul play from Chennedy Carter. Lindsey Vonn also came out as one.

The former Alpine ski racing legend stood firm to Caitlin Clark’s side and termed the fiasco as an “intentional attack”. With that, she also indicated that the WNBA star “is being targeted, when in fact, she is massively helping to elevate the game.” So, from now on, the former world champion wants the authority to note the language hurled at Caitlin. Lindsey Vonn flouted any extra effort to put behind Caitlin. But as per her, an active stepping-in might do the job. Yet, some loose effort had been present when the Fever rookie faced the attack.

Previously, the authority had swept the entire situation under the carpet by calling it an away-from-the-ball foul. But the status changed later, after several voices demanded a close look at the foul play. Caitlin Clark herself conceded, “I wasn’t expecting it”. That made the authorities turn to watch the exact situation. After a close verification, the authority handed Chennedy Carter a flagrant-1 violation.

The Chicago Sky was slapped with a penalty of $5000 for failing to let team members go with the league media policies. However, several argued about the penalties, as the WNBA has the provisions to impose a fine on the player or suspend the player for the mentioned violation. Nevertheless, Such behaviors are bound to come under the scanner and, as Lindsey Vonn argued, these certainly did. In the WNBA, Lindsey Vonn has much to put into being the co-owner of Utah Royals FC. Her support for Caitlin Clark added one more page to her love for the sport and the women in it.

Lindsey Vonn’s never-ending support for women in sport

After proving her mettle in the NCAA, Caitlin Clark shifted to WNBA a few months ago. Since her stepping into the fold, the 22-year-old baller turned the limelight towards her as several NIL ventures had chased her in the WNBA. Soon, her purse filled with a whopping $3.1 million NIL deal. Companies like Gatorade, Goldman Sachs, and Nike lined up for Caitlin Clark with their deals. Ultimately, such a thorough influx of money improved the WNBA form, as Lindsey Vonn thinks.

In relishing the current situation in the WNBA, Lindsey Vonn said, “The excitement about women’s sports has hit this tipping point almost. It’s been happening for a long time, so I hope we can keep this momentum going.” Furthermore, the former world champion expects many more feats such as Caitlin Clark does in the arena to increase the popularity of the sport. She thoroughly believes in the lines, “women in sports is a movement, not a moment.” In such a moment, Caitlin Clark is the most glowing name to initiate the movement. Again, Lindsey Vonn proved her support for the rookie. Now, the onus is on the WNBA to take the further call.
